Re: [Mellotronists] Another Moody gem...and a DVD question- FAKE 'Tron.

Fellows:
I was given a DVD of the Moodies recently.
"The MB - Live in Paris '70"
I'm all ears for MB in the days of Pinder...so I
was happy to get this. I was hoping to see and hear some live Mellotron by
Pinder.....
However...upon a listen - here's what I discovered:
(forgive me if this is well worn ground - as
I'm new here...)
Although it is pretty dated video work - it is nice to see them as they were back then (not
much available in that timeframe unless you like B&W european
TV.
They are playing in what looks a small cafe...up
close and personal like.
As for the perfomance, well...except for a few
songs this is a definite lip synch.
(Reminded me of Dick
Clark's "Where the Action Is").
#3, #7 and #9 and #15 on the playlist sound
live...at least the vocals appear to be.
The instrument tracks must be heavily reengineered as are the vocals on some of the
tunes....the vocals on some tracks must be llive as on some they miss their cues
and its there, complete with Jogn Lodge laughing about it....
But here's the real
kicker..........................................................................................................................
Mike Pinder is
sitting at a Hammond B-3 or C-3.
It is not even a Mellotron.
Confirmed by my neighbor that works on Hammonds and
owns/owned several.....
The string sounds in
this performance are (what is the term for lip
synched music....)?
The playlist on this DVD -(for any that may still be interested):
Pt.1
1.) Opening
2.) Lovely to See You
3.) Never Comes the Day
4.) Tortoise & Hare
5.) Are You Sitting Comfortably
6.) Legend of A Mind
7.) Nights in White Satin
Pt.2
8.) Opening
9.) Ride My See Saw
10.) Lazy
Day
11.) Gypsy
12.) Candle of Life
13.) Tuesday Afternoon
14.) Don't You Feel Small
15.) Question

Sorry to keep bugging you folks, but I figure there are some of you who
might want to check this out....
Here's a recording of The Moody Blues playing live at the Concertgebouw in
Amsterdam, The Netherlands on March 3. 1972.
Unlike past recordings, this one is a very nice sounding stereo soundboard
recording, and Pinder's 'Tron is nice and heavy in the mix stage right...
Here ya go:

But where's the rest of the show?
