WORJ-FM, Mellotron instigator

In response to WORJ-FM being mentioned in a recent post:
I have this list of 9 p.m. album features from WORJ dating from
1972-1973-ish. They would play new LP's in their entirety from
Hawkwind, Amon Duul 2, T. Rex, Todd Rundgren, ELP, ELO, and even stuff
by Butts Band, Jo Jo Gunne, Ramatam, Osibisa, John Kongos, etc. when
it came out. In other words, the station turned a lot of us Floridians
on to prog & other decent groundbreaking rock bands. Too bad they're
gone! What a powerhouse of an influential radio station they
were--causing me to make many trips into Bruce Baer Records in Winter
Park; bicycling in from De Land to pick up the cassette versions.

Amen, well said, it was a big influence to at least two of us on this list..
I also liked the "King Biscuit Flour Hour" concerts.

Yes, searching for that special album used to be a quest - now it's a couple
of clicks of the mouse ;-). Bill Baer Records was kind of a landmark in the
Central Florida area, they had a giant stuffed Polar Bear in the window of the
store! No matching M400, though.
