Mark 2 & Choirs

Mark 2 & Choirs

2006-07-14 by charel196

I think I asked before but why weren't human voices considered for the MK 1 & 2 & 300?
Didn't the Chamberlins have male and female voices originally or did Harry do that later?
You'd think that some artists might have asked for it...the Moodies for instance could've
put their stacked wall of backing vocals on Mike's tron.
I know the 8 choir etc. didn't happen til later for the 400 but do the choir tapes sound
any different on a MK2 or 300?

yeah...the Mellotron Archives disc has the Chamberlin male and female voices (heavy
1930's movie vibrato) and I recognized it from the Ethos album. It's showcased on their
song "Sedona". It's cool to create a mixed layer on my Emu E4K of the tron 8 choir, tron
male and female split (sampled by me from my old M400 tapes)), and the Chamberlin
voices. I also made a preset of split Chamberlin male and female and routed them to L/R
panning.
I wonder what the first Kurzweil K250 choir would sound like put onto tron tapes:) That
always had a massive sound...

Hi Charles and Gang,

There were some impressive strings and choir voices on New Age/Spacemusic
artist Constance Demby's CD "Novus Magnificat,Thru the Stargate "
of the mid-late 1980's. That album I believe was entirely recorded
using the Emu-2 sampler . Sounded pretty doggone good for its time.

Ms. Demby also played hammered dulcimer (Persian Santour)
and misc. custom instruments on her other CDs.

I wonder too. The Spectrasonics Symphony of Voices sample library -
http://www.spectrasonics.net/libraries/symphonyvoices.php

A few selected multi-samples from this, on one tape frame.
Spectrasonics would want their logo on the frame!

So Jerry....do you have choirs on your MK2? Does the older tube tech change their sound
much? Must sound cool thru the side speakers too.
Might be fun to have an entire MK2 dedicated to doing human voices...8 & 16
choirs,soloists,Chamberlin voices,boys choir, Russian choir,male, female....
I have the Spectrasonics sounds...they would be great too (Nick Magnus used these
brilliantly on INHALING GREEN)
