BBC Mellotron Documentary

2006-05-11 by tronbros@aol.com

People,

The BBC documentary will now be broadcast on June 3rd at 10.30 am on Radio
4. The programme features interviews with:

Macca
Ian McDonald,
AndyPartridge & David Gregory of XTC
Justin Hayward
Tony Banks
Paul Weller
Nick Awde - author of the new Mellotron book
Our very own Andy Thompson
AndyMcCluskey of OMD
Us

Of course, anyone of the above interviewees could be cut at the editing
stage or be confined to a nanosecond of contribution as the programme is 30
minutes long. Fart and you'll miss 'em.

On the web you will need to go to WWW.BBC.CO.UK and then to Radio 4's area.
The programme will be up for 7 days after initial broadcast.

""This programme will be better than sex with a poodle"" - Arthur Trenchard.
 Frankly, I don't think so.

Best,

Martin

I was surprised too.

They actually sound smarter than they act ...

Maybe it was just that limey accent.

Actually, rumor has it that this was a VIDEO production until the
Beeb visited Lower Upper Blithbury nr Rugely in Staffordshire, fabled
home of Streetly Electronics. Production was shut down for two days
while hasty conferences were held in London and Birmingham by top
people in the production department of the BBC. Since incredible
amounts of money had already been spent, it was decided to keep the
soundtrack only and broadcast on the radio.

You have just heard the result.

Rick

PS Martin and John, next time lose the lavender tutus, okay? It's
probably all right to wear them when people aren't visiting and the
wife and I quite enjoyed "Swan Lake" when we visited last year, but
it CAN be a bit much, chaps.

Paul Humphreys provided the best interview in this programme, presented
by the BBC's best narrator now that Peelie's gone, but does anybody
else who heard it think that Macca's lost it? ...

Cx

PS:
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Macca = average.
Lennon = below average.
Macca + Lennon (+ undisclosed amounts of Martin) = genius.

If you look carefully, it allows you to play it on Real Player.

I'll pretend you're talking about them, not me. :-) BTW, their Brummie
accent's completely different to my S-E. :-)

Andy T.

p.s. Haven't heard it myself yet, but I've been told my contribution was
totally Spinal Tap. Great. :-)

Andy,

You came off sounding extremely semi-knowledgeable. Your Tron sounded very
nice.
