I'm looking forward to seeing this documentary.

There's also a pretty bad recent video of the Tornadoes
playing "Telstar" here:

20telstar

Coincidentally, I'm in the middle of reading "Joe Meek's Bold
Techniques" by Barry Cleveland. Highly recommended.

Ha Ha !!

"London"

"The Sixties"

If it had started "Newent" "The Fifties" (which would have been more to
the point) nobody would bother going to see it!

Far better if they'd started with his background:
"Joe Meek grew up in a desperately unfashionable part of deepest hick
Gloucestershire and spoke with the local accent, albeit a squeaky camp
version of that vernacular. He built the first TV set in Newent and
amused locals by constructing silly bits of electronica as novelties
for the local town fair. (Newent is an odd town. It has an annual
festival celebrating the onion. Not the satirical online magazine, but
the vegetable.....)"

....But Gloucestershire is not a cool place to talk about, obviously.

Arf!!
