dear fluffy animal,
sorry about this. I used to work with marijne van der vlugt (or "madge"), a
rail-thin painfully pretty dutch vj, back in the days when mtv had vj's and
was the same mtv all over europe. I may even have the album.....
(digs around- here's "salad bar" anyway, a singles compilation; there is no
'tron on it. if they'd wanted one, she only had to ask....)

I saw salad more times than I care to remember, once (downstairs in the
monarch in camden) in the company of the then-unknown stone temple
plot-losers, whose albums I also have and who I'd just recorded for mtv. I
liked salad a lot, I thought madge had a terrific voice, but they sort of
wore out the schizo bunny-boiler thing she used to do and then they
disappeared. they were always a good night out, I'll give 'em that.
madge played all the keyboard parts; on stage, she had a fairly ordinary
sub-M1 type all-in-oner that I can't remember what it was. might've been an
M1 but I remember it being smaller. they were english besides her, as I
recall, though I only really knew paul, the guitarist/co-writer.

so- don't track it down expecting floods of 'tron, but track it down anyway.
I just stuck the aforementioned on; the drum sound dates it a bit (even
though it's only 8) but it's still pretty fab. ("TROUBLE!!"- you had to see
that live, really).

Bugger!

Strange if they used samples that they never used them on "Ice Cream" yet
"Drink Me" has loads... still in denial.... maybe they tripped over one in
the studio.... I knew I shouldn't have asked.

Bit like discovering that the E-Type had a diesel engine fitted.
