I wish they'd release a cheaper CD-ROM with just the Vako Orchestron
sounds on it though.
I'd love to get those (to recreate all my favourite Kraftwerk tunes ;-)
but don't really spending $199 when 90% of that is dreadful Optigan sounds...

Re: [Mellotronists] Digest Number 1301

I doubt that there is NEARLY enough sonic information
on the very few orchestron disks to warrant the
manufacturing of a disk with just those sounds. As for
the optigan sounds, how is the orchstron any better?

Re: [Mellotronists] Digest Number 1301

2006-04-01 by mark kasian

Yeah, I guess I am. I must have been listening to my
Fiona Apple, Crowded House, Los Lobos, Suzanne Vega,
Michael Penn, Sparklehorse and Tom Waits records. How
silly.

Actually, I thought you might possibly have been
referring to the sonic quality of the machines, not
the material so much. At any rate, one disk with all
of the possible disks ever made for all three abortive
stabs at the idea seems like a good idea to me.

But then, I AM nuts. And 200 bucks for high quality
recordings of so much trashy low fi material is
certainly a waste of blue collar money.

Mark.

Optical Organ Toolkit-199.00
Optigan, Chilton Talentmaker and Orchestron. ALL of the disks faithfully
recorded into the AKAI format for your sampler. We all love the optigan,
we all have a broken one!!

If it's as comprehensive as the Mellotron/Chamberlin Akai disc, I
think it's probably worth $199 to someone in search of some great
lo-fi sounds to roughen up a sterile digital mix.

Fuck an Optigan. I've already rebuilt one of these.

Pea Hix at Optigan.com has essentially the same thing(cd rom of all
optical playback sounds for the same price as mellotron .com) and he
is the reigning authority on all those instruments and a very sweet
guy. He even has some samples to download. check it out. All those
sounds are quite lovely.

fritz optigan #??? completely not working
