Hello, I have no fucking idea what I just did. Please disregard, it's just a case of antihistamine stupidity.

Don't worry. 'Martin Smith' (if that is indeed his real name) does the
same thing to me and blames the beer the morning after.

Ok, to summarise, the worse you are at playing the flute, the more you sound like someone who is quite accomplished at playing the flute on a mellotron.
On account of the fact that I can't play the flute at all, perhaps I should therefore buy a flute
1) because it is much cheaper than buying a mellotron
2) beacuse on the basis that if you play a flute badly you sound quite like a good mellotron player, by not being able to play a flute at all I must therefore sound like a BRILLIANT mellotron player
3) I can't play a mellotron either

Hear!
We should not forget that Ian Anderson if not invented his technique then at least invented
his technique in the context of rock, and so much that his style of blowing with the voice is
a signature flute sound. No matter what purists say.

picky picky picky. most rock flute players I've heard are trying their
damndest to retain some delicacy in the face of overwhelming odds; blowing
across the end of a foot-and-a-half of tubing, nearly always miked up wrong,
with a wall of marshalls (or whatever) a few feet behind them.

I've heard Martinge Smith play bad flute on a mellotron. Does that mean that he's a COMPLETE loser?

Is the pope Polish?

Rick

PS Okay, that takes care of the flute players. Now let's move on to the oboe. Norm, would you like to kick this one off?

Actually, knowing several, I'd like to kick most of them off...a tall building.
