Elton John and trons??

Elton John and trons??

2002-05-11 by TooClassy@aol.com

andy.thompson@... (Andy Thompson) listed "Daniel" by Elton John as
among someone's top 10 tron moments. This brings me to a question. Can
anybody comment on Elton's use of the tron in general...use of tron in
specific songs or albums? This is a gap in my knowledge...I don't normally
associate Elton with tron use (as compared to the usual list of classic tron
characters like Genesis, Moody Blues, BJH, King Crimson, etc.)

Just off the top of my head:
"Grey Seal" and "This song has no Title" from Yellow Brick Road.
I'm sure there's more, but would need to do a more thorough search of EJ's catalog.

Have a look at my albums list at:

http://freespace.virgin.net/andy.thompson/albums.htm

for a (hopefully) comprehensive list of Elton's 'Tron work. I'm told he used
one live at the time, though played by someone else due to his prior
engagement with a grand piano... I'm also told that Billy Joel (I always
lump the two in together, I'm afraid) used quite a bit of 'Tron, but I just
can't face borrowing his '70s albums from someone to confirm for myself.
Anyone know his earlier stuff?

The break in "She's Always A Woman" from 52nd Street is a Mellotron flute.
