New Samples Available

2002-01-13 by tron@blackcat.demon.co.uk

Two new samples are now available on the Streetly Sample Library
website for you to Point And Laugh at.

STEVE HACKETT SUSTAIN GUITAR and RAY JUNG FRETLESS BASS.

Get a load of the Hackett, by the way. It's the most impressive sound
I've heard since the Ian McD flute. If you play the attack off the swell
pedal then you get that *Steve Baby Moment* and you come over all
*Suppers Ready*.

Two great sounds with rubbish playing on the samples. More to follow.
(In fact, if anyone has any of the sounds that are *not* already
featured on the site, could you please get in touch with me by e-mail?)

Mike isn't kidding how good the Hackett and Jung samples really are. The
Hackett, in particular is *all that*. He also doesn't mention that Systems
Theory has a new piece being finished specifically for the "Son Of Rime..."
'tron CD project. So I'll do it, since I am without shame <nods>. On it,
Mike gets to play *lead guitarist* :-) Coming _very soon_ "Serengeti
Surprise"... a dark musical journey through someplace on the planet that an
ill-prepared, ill-equipped, lad shouldn't go...

...which means that I get to go to the front of the stage and waggle my
tongue about whilst soloing, only ruining the effect when I break wind
and everyone in the the first six rows collapses.

Coming even sooner is 'One Step To Freefall', an almighty racket set to
a ferocious *almost-dance-beat* in which three different bands seem to
be playing through the same mixer without being able to hear each other,
whilst two Mellotrons on 'great big huge mixed brass truck horn' setting
exchange loud insults from each loudspeaker.

We'll issue clothes-pins for everyone close to the stage!

ROTFL!

That's a very good description of what's going on in "Freefall". I'll have
to steal it for the web-site... a tune that's not for the faint of heart,
or those enamoured of sissy *niiiiiiice* mellotron. ;-)

New Samples Available

Two new samples available thanks to Ken 'Chops' Leonard:

* GC3 Brass - Our George blows his own valves and wins.

* M300B strings - Ken manages to complete a phrase on this sound
without slitting his throat with a blunt Leonard Cohen album.

Good effort by The Man Ken. Anyone with any other 'missing samples' to
contribute is welcome!
