this is "purple box", right? good luck with that, but maybe saying the serial
number over-and-over will win the day; you'll seem like the perfect home for
this 'tron, by (etc etc).
meanwhile, maybe martin and john can dig out the birth certificate and lend
some actual historical cred to your claim as the destined owner of 574. and
fate does tend to play a part in these things- I got 1098 home by dint of
being in the right place at the right time; this has all the same hallmarks
of that experience. did you get it fired up yet?

Yup, 574 is the 400 living in the purple road case with biodegrading
foam carefully ensconcing it. Actually the foam has gone beyond it's
half-life and now has the consistency similar to really
greasy/crunchy Styrofoam! Yes, 574 needs to come to live at my home
where it will be lovingly cared for......IF I can talk the fellow
that owns it out of letting his buddy store it his music store. But
at the rate that it took for me to see it after finding where it was
(10-12 years!), I may end up with it only when the estates of these
two guys are settled!! By that time, 574 will resemble the
carpet-tron after the foam has completely encrusted the cabinet!

But seriously, I will have to start saving my pennies and dig through
the couch for spare change. My wife read in Frank's book the parts
about why we all have this thing for 'trons.....and now she is
worried that there are others with my affliction out there in
society. And, sadly, I haven't been back down to the music store but
I know this guy won't fire it up until his buddy, the actual owner, is
there. Even though he's a 'tron nut too, he doesn't want to have to
make a phone call to explain a frame full of crunched tapes.

Give me time, I will prevail!
