3 DOG NIGHT

2004-10-24 by charel196

I recently watched a video of 3 Dog Night on PBS Soundstage 1975 and
was amazed at the amount of Chamberlin that was featured on just
about every song-played by Skip Konte of Blues Image fame(in full
wizard regaila). He was using the same M4 model I posted a picture of
in the Photos section here in the group. A friend of mine copied it
to DVDR from Japanese laser disc and the sound and pic quality was
great. The Chamberlin tones sounded very Pinder-y.Skip used:
violins,flute,cellos,brasses,clarinet,vibes,harpsichord(?),male and
female voices, oboe and sound efx(crowd laughs and creaking door
slamming) and maybe organ
There were some nice shots of Skip's fingers at the Chamby

I've heard what I believe to be the only three albums Konte recorded with
them, and while I can only hear Chamby on a few tracks, I'd guess I'm
missing a lot of stuff where I don't recognise the sounds. Hated the music,
BTW... Would be cool to see this video, just for the Chamby bits.

Hi Andy
I'm not a BIG fan of this music anymore either but Konte used the
Chamberlin on a lot of their other pieces that had real strings etc.
on the original records
I just view this as a historical appearance of the rare instrument
in a live setting. It was available on Rhino VHS as well...check with
used sources

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
