Real Tuesday Weld/Many New 'Tron Recordings

Real Tuesday Weld/Many New 'Tron Recordings

2004-09-21 by mellotrongirl

When I first came across the latest Real Tuesday Weld album, I
believe the usage of 'tron and Optigan, etc. were confirmed in the
who-plays-what listings within the deluxe packaging. There are lots
of Mellotron *sounds* on many new releases these days. It seems like
the past few years, I hear them on two or three new releases a
week...most on indie labels that don't make commercial radio or
mainstream sales charts. Some are confirmed in the liner notes,
others are lumped in under that dreaded umbrella term "keyboards"--
and with all the sampling these days combined with hearing loss from
30+ years of working in record stores to music and concert
promotion, I'm having trouble decoding the real thing.

Good call on OMD...I remember the NBC days of David Letterman, when
Paul Shaffer really got into a conversation with Humphreys about
cool keyboards.

Ah!

I managed to buy a dealer promo on Sixdegrees which had no liner notes
at all. TRTW are good fun live, btw. They are basically a jazz band
with computer backing, and a louche lead-singer. They sound very
littlelike their album, but it all makes for a good night out!

Wish that was available from the archives!
