Splicing tape (where, substitutes)

Splicing tape (where, substitutes)

2004-06-30 by tmoravan

I want to try installing new tapes onto my frame by splicing it to
the existing one and pulling it through. I stopped by the local
Radio Shack and they no longer carry splice kits or splicing tape.

Anyone have a source for splicing tape, or is there a decent
alternative? Markertek only has a VHS splice kit (90 pieces of VHS-
sized splicing tape). Also - when you store your old tapes onto a
reel, you normally join each section with some splicing tape, right?

Thanks

You'd be attaching the start of the new tape to the end of the old tape to
pull the new tape through the frame, correct?

Any kind of adhesive tape will work for that; it's only temporary and
doesn't have any audio application---unless you cut the new tape in the
wrong spot, in which case you'll need a lot of real splicing tape, or a new
set of tapes...:-(

I think the last time I replaced a set of tapes, I used some waste adhesive
label paper where some CD labels came from and cut little strips.

M400 #805 - has had the strip treatment
M400 #1037 - needs to be stripped
