Sir Paul on tour

Sir Paul on tour

2002-03-10 by tronbros@aol.com

To our friends across the pond,

Macca is on tour and he has his MKV with him. Hopefully he will be doing some archive stuff using the machine. It has a new capstan, revamped keyboard action, fresh tapes and sounds great. If all the tickets haven't yet gone, spash out(although the ticket prices look frightening). Luckily at the last moment he decided to leave the MKII in the studio. A blessed relief. For those who do get to a gig, as you enter the auditorium there will be an ambient ethnic piece playing. Listen out for MKII violin rhythm fills in the mix. Very effective. Sadly he's not touring the UK or Europe in the near future. Bugger.

Best,

What pond? The Blithbury Water? Why would he play over there when it's so nice on your side?

Rick

PS Are the ticket prices even more frightening that the prospect of being in a confined space with Dickson?

I heard something on the radio about the tickets being into three-figure
territory *before* the touts' mark-up. I know he's written one or two
memorable tunes but that's taking the piss, if it's true. sold out in toronto
already.
mkV huh? who's playing it for him?

anyone else got the crimson book yet? it's pretty damn good- very
comprehensive, and bits of it will make you want to smack bob upside the
head.

I thought it was pretty good, but I've since been told by David Cross (for
whom I'm booking a European tour for late August - any help gratefully
received!) that he wasn't even interviewed for the project, and Crimso
'wasn't that bad' after all! Beware old quotes regurgitated 30 years
later...

Per Sid Smith - David Cross made four appointments for interviews, then
cancelled them all in a bit of a huff (no one knows why). Having said
that, he turned up for the book launch. Then again, he was getting paid
for that. Read into this what you will.

Really? Bizarre! I won't press him on the issue, but I can only presume he
had his reasons, reasonable or otherwise!
