OT, I just acquired Autumn "Oceanworld"

OT, I just acquired Autumn "Oceanworld"

Of interest to 'tron brethren everywhere because Nick Magus was on keys.
There isn't any 'tron on the album, but there is some very nice Vox String
Thing work. 4 outstanding instrumental prog tracks + a reprise of the title
track at the end of the disc, all lovingly restored to excellent sound
quality by band members. Recorded in 77-78 it hadn't a prayer of commercial
success, but is well worth checking out, since the compositions are strong
and the playing is uniformly excellent. Try instrumental Yes meets
instrumental Greenslade meets instrumental Gentle Giant for texture, and
you'll have an idea of what they sounded like. Tracks run from 4-13 minutes
in length and the disc is 36 minutes long. No losers here. Buy it if you
can find it. Thanks Nick et al for bringing this lost goodie back to life!

1) Oceanworld [13:09]
2) Some Like it Crunchy [8:36]
3) Little Finger Exercise [8:36]
4) The Celebrated Court Jester [4:17]
5) Oceanworld (reprise) [1:30]

Nick Magus - keys,synths
Robbie Dobson - drums, percussion
Steve Huff - basses
Mark Easton - guitars

I bought it used from a guy in France named Dominque Iroz. I get all kinds
of hard to find stuff from him. You can get on his email list at
iroz@....

"Oceanworld" is listed as a 1999 release on Autumn Records. Artwork is by
Gordon Reid BTW, so there's even more relationship to this list. Inside the
liner there's this email and web-site info:

info@...
www.autumn76.freeserve.co.uk

It says that you can order it right there, so have at it. I'm enjoying it
through headphones as I write this... :-)

Hi all,

Actually... there's a CEDAR logo and a mention of some other bloke on the
insert. Those Mellotronists get everywhere.

If you're interested in audio restoration: http://www.cedaraudio.com

Ah, yes... that's the bloke. But I can't take the credit for the artwork.

Gordon.

<shakes head> Duh! How did I come up with you being the artist when it says
right there in the notes that "The overall recordings have, of necessity,
been 'cleaned up' (cedared by the incomparable Gordon) a little and EQ'd but
ostensibly these are as they were twenty-something years ago". They sound
terrific, so hats of to you for your work from the 8 track masters.

So who did the artwork? Nick? Calling Nick...
