MkII sounds

2004-03-23 by Andy Thompson

Dear all,
I know I've asked this before, albeit a long time ago, but is there a list of the original Mark II sounds around anywhere? I've tried all the main 'Tron sites, but haven't been able to find anything yet. I'm sure I've missed something really obvious somewhere, but I don't seem to be able to find it...
I've had someone write to me claiming that there's Mellotron on both the studio and live versions of 'The Musical Box' (will this Mellotron madness never end?), and I disagree (naturally), but he's claiming that there are oboes on the Mark II.
Yet again, help!
Andy T.

There is a listing of original MkI and MkII leads/rhythms/fills at mellotron.com. Look under "Products", then under "Tapes". Oboe is not listed for either model.

Thanks, Frank - dunno how I missed that one! Anyway, have the info now from
two separate sources.

Aye,
surely any oboes were inside Gabriel's wee mouth,
not the mellotron...?

Andy,
There's also a listing on David Cilia's website which also has some
really good photos and stuff - really nice site:

John

ps I agree, no tron on Musical box just organ and fuzzy-pianette.
