Non-mellotron content.

An interesting article on the plans of building a mega-organ by
Vandergraaf Generator keyboardist Hugh Banton:

Aye but isn't what actually happened that Mr Banton
stayed in the band for long enough to use their funds to complete
his organ,
and then when he'd finished, decided to quit and take the organ
with him!!!
Since the others had paid for it, this caused some wailing and
gnashing of teeth.

Actually, when asked what happened to the organ, Mr.. Banton said that the band kept it when he left. He now builds custom church organs.

"Theme One" was only on the American LP of Pawn Hearts. The CD is taken
from the English release, which did not have "Theme One."

[Mellotronists] VDGG, "Pawn Hearts"

2004-02-06 by John Hofmeyer

Funny...

I listened to Pawn Hearts this morning. I had just purchased the CD, since
my turntable is currenlty out of commission. It seems its missing a track
from the LP ?!?! The 2nd track on the LP, "Theme One" is not on the CD. I
feel like I've been ripped off!

The melody for that tune has re-appeared in some other prog-rock discs from
the early 70s. It has been a while since I've sat and listened to a
back-to-back compare; but I do recall finding the melody in a few different
records.

Sorry - a bit off topic. My bad...

But THEME ONE wasn't on the original album,
it was just a bonus track on some releases,
and it's only a cover version anyways,
and ewe can get it in remastered form on the
VdGG "INTRODUCTION" CD.......

Peter Hammill says Virgin are talking of remastering
all the VdGG albums at the mo (cos the Box set thing sold well)
But he also just had a heart attack! :-O
