glad to report that one of the two mellotrons in finland is in excellent
shape. 923 has a rather elderly motor controller which eventually settled down and
gave stable performance, as did we (radio massacre international) at the
espoo centre last saturday.
sadly, the language barrier prevented much dialogue with esa kotilainen, it's
owner, so I couldn't find out what was wrong with his other m400, but this
one behaved perfectly. one of the strings, the cello and the flute, since you
ask. his choir tapes are raxed, though, and european baggage allowances
prevented us taking some of our own sounds for it. next time perhaps.
raimo, if you're lurking out there, tell esa thanks some more- we got a great
recording. I hope he likes the cd's. & have him get on to streetly and start
using the 'trons again.

And there will be CDs forthcoming, correct, Mr. Duncan? Yahoo!!! :-)

Raimo is really great. He and his friend Jukka have a radio show in
Finland on which the Mellotron was the featured guest one week. Some of my
tunes (and RMI's) made it there. Esa was also on that show talking about
his 'tron.

And the weather was very nice outside ;-)
I hope nr 923 did not turn to a snowatron on the way back to Esa's place.

The other m400 he has is nr 1490. Have not seen it and don't know what's wrong
with it. Yet. As a tronless person I have understood that to own a tron is a very
private thing. You should not ask a man too many questions about the other tron's
condition. Especially if the working tron is listening ;-)

I'll pass the message to Esa.

Thanks for an excellent gig.

Raimo

P.S there's a third m400 in Finland too. It was owned by a musician who passed
away recently. Hope it goes for sale some day.
Esa's nr 923 is definitely the only working one.
