Great bands to play 'tron to

Great bands to play 'tron to

2004-01-20 by mellotrongirl

Certainly a lot of us like to play along with existing Mellotron gems
by playing along with our own Mellotrons, and improv on the classics
from time to time, but a cool new CD to play along with and get
inventive with has to be the latest from Guapo titled "Five Suns" on
Cuneiform. Daniel O'Sullivan plays 'Tron on this intense extruded
masterpiece, but doesn't get thick and heavy with it, so there's
plenty of room to add your own creativity by jamming along with this
one!

Mellotrongirl - thanks for the press! Guapo is actually my brother's band
(Matt Thompson), and the Mellotron Dan plays is mine. After nearly ten
years, the band have finally 'broken through' to the stage where a
respectable label will release their stuff - several respectable labels,
actually - their next is due on ex-Faith No More Mike Patton's Ipecac
imprint. There's also one 'Tron track on their previous effort, 'Great Sage,
Equal of Heaven', although I'm not sure if it's currently available.
