It seems to me that one person can frequently be the "soul" (for lack 
of a better word) of a band, whether they are the titular leader, 
spokesman or whatever  - Peter Gabriel and Genesis come to mind 
instantly, as I think the band lost some ineffable quality when he 
left, much as the Moodies did when Mike Pinder left.

Yes definitely...... Gabriel has that "inflatable quality"
That suit he wears for Sledgehammer...
He looks like a weather balloon with landing lights.

I was disappointed to find the official moodies site doesn't mention 
Mikes existance or his influence on the band at all (or Ray's for that 
matter).

Actually, the post I contributed was to be entered on the 'Pinder.com
forum! Holay... How did it wind up here? I better stop buying those
cheapo reading glasses at the dollar store and punch for a *real*
prescription. I started out at +2.5 and suddenly I'm cranky because
they don't make 'em over +4.0
