Pinders cd rom?

Pinders cd rom?

2003-10-09 by danielhafley

Can anyone tell me how good the Pinders Mellotron cd-rom sounds? I
checked the archives and can't seem to find much on it. Is it true the
cd was used on Radioheads Ok Computer CD? Any info would be great.

Hi;
I have had Pinders' CD now loaded into my ASR-10 now for two years. It
is quite entertaining with the complete M300 loaded, MKII strings,
Chamberlin strings which are one generation closer to the original
recordings than the 400. Some harshness did abound on the recordings due to
the digitazation, but I was able to clear alot of that up with "volume
smoothing" and such.
The infamous flute and choir are extremely close. I can say all this
because I did own a Mellotron many years ago and have many recordings to
compare it to.

Re: [Mellotronists] Pinders cd rom?

When I recorded a session in LUMEN STUDIOS
in Brighton in 1996 (?) they told me they'd
just recently sold their M400 to Radiohead
(and that they'd bought Froese's tapes for it)
They still had a photo of it on their wall.
I was gutted, needless to say!
If bloody Radiohead hadn't taken it away,
I could have played it :-(

Radiohead used a real M400 and Tangerine Dream tape frames. 'Exit music' was recorded on the evening of the day their machine was delivered. And very good it is too.

Dear All,

Martin picked up my EMI 400 for rebuild on the way back from delivering an M400 to Radiohead so I believe it was a real one...

All the best,
Norm
