Well guys,in spite of your reluctance to use this stuff I can only 
say in almost 25 years of using it in my 400 it kept my tapes flowing 
smoothly.The only breakage I had was a result of improper tape box 
positioning on my part when I removed it to clean the felt strips.I 
left too much space between it and the capstan.
 The head lube was silicon based I believe and safe for all heads and 
tapes.Tascam wouldn't have sold it otherwise.Alcohol is a great 
cleaner but the lube kept everything a bit "slicker".
