Hello

2004-04-25 by Ryan Guidry

Hello everyone.

My name is Ryan Guidry. Some of you may of heard of me from the bands
Deadwood Forest or Scattered Pages. Anyhow, I just recently joined this
mailing list and this is my first post. Though I myself do not own a
Mellotron, I have had plenty of access to Mitch Mignano's (Deadwood
keyboardist) M400. I'm currently enjoying the delights of the Mike Pinder
CD-rom at my home, and using the samples extensively on my newer recordings.

I was wondering if any Moody Blues fans knew which Mellotron sound is used
in Dr. Livingstone, I Presume (the motif which appears at the song's intro
and repeats directly before each chorus). It is obviously run through a
fuzz box but I don't know which tape it is. Might it be MKII piano?

Also, years ago (probably in '96 or '97) Mitch forwarded me an email from
Mellotronists which contained a list of all the Chamberlain sounds used on
Seventh Sojourn. Does anyone still have this list and if so could you email
it to me?

I look forward to future discussions in this group.

Take care,
Ryan

Welcome Ryan!
According to Franks Mellotron Book, Chamberlin Cello was used on New
Horizons, Chamberlin(?) Three Violins and 'tron Accordion on For My
Lady, Chamberlin Oboe on Lost In A Lost World, Half Speed Brass
(MKII?) on I'm Just A Singer.

I would assume Chamberlin Three Violins on Isn't Life Strange.

Let us know if you have any more recordings posted.

Clay
