Winter Games

2002-02-10 by Rick Blechta

Fellows,

I would personally like to admonish everyone one on the list in the strongest possible terms that the words are spelled s-h-i-t and
f-u-c-k. Frank, I think we're old enough to use them if they're warranted...

That said, I would like to propose a Mud-Wrestling Championship of the Entire Mellotron Universe between the Streetly Lads on
one side versus the Mellotron Archives Crushers on the other for the total and complete bragging rights of Mellotrondom for all
time. Three falls, steel cage, no holds barred. Winner take all. I'll be there for sure--as long as it brings an end to the bullshit.

On the other hand, we never seem to hear from Markus unless he's trying to sell something (this has been something that's been
discussed by several of us off the list, Frank, and I think it is the source of Jerry's comment, correct me if I'm wrong) or defending
his work from attacks (however misguided). Markus, you have an excellent knowledge of and passion for the instruments that bring us all to this
list (having seen several MkVIs, I can certainly vouch for that) and you certainly can add a lot more to all our discussions than
advertising. Let's hear it.

I wholeheartedly agree with JS.  Guys, let's knock this s**t off!!  I would normally send a private email, but at this point I think it
needs an open admonishment.  Shame on JB, MS, MR, and JK, all of whom should know better but insist on infantalizing this list
with their petty sniping.  JK, if you were aware that you were opening up a can of worms, why didn't you just shut up?  I think I
would be quite safe saying that the majority of subscribers to the list don't want to see this crap.  Guys, if you must, send private
emails, but KEEP THIS F***ING BS OFF THE LIST!!  We should be free to express ourselves, but with freedom comes
responsibility, not a license to be an idiot.  Fun is fun, but a line must be drawn somewhere -- CONSIDER IT DRAWN!

Fellow troniacs, let's hear from you loud and clear, once and for all, that this behavior is intolerable and inappropriate.

Well, Rick, Fuck it, then.  Winner take all -- or let them piss in their own backyards, mark their own territory, and get back to the business of Mellotrons.

Seriously, I did that not so much to protect the sensibilities of people on the list (do we have any, considering what our common passion is?  LOL), but just maintaining some decorum on the list.  I know AOL gets real pissy if profanity is used, and don't know how Yahoo and/or Don feels about that.  That's all.  But's let's not let that detract from the fact that sometimes people on this list engage their mouths/keyboards before they engage their brains, and before you know it, it's Tron Wars: The Phantom Menace again.  Not taking sides, you gotta admit promotion is quite different from sarcasm/sniping, and while both sides have done the former, both have also engaged in the latter.  Would you take the latter approach against a rival mystery writer?  Of course not, and it should be no different here.

Why can't we just get along?  Where's Rodney King now that we really need him? -- (in jail again, of course -- really!).

I think it's more of a California thang!
