Website Alert

Website Alert

2001-12-15 by Rick Blechta

Hi folks!

Blatant self-promotion department: As some of you know, I've been
working on a website (can't let myself be outdone by Fritz!) for my
other occupation as a writer. The site is now pretty well functional,
although the tweaks go on and one or two pages are not yet completed.
Check it out if you feel inclined (there are also a few
mellotron-oriented things with more planned). Our order desk is also
open 24/7!

Rick Blechta (SFX 10030)

And coming from Streetly in the new year will be a lovely new bass
flute/alto flute split tape set performed by my darling wife, Vicki.
There are also plans for flute choir--multiple flutes on one track!

Re: Website Alert

2001-12-16 by Rick Blechta

Good point, Clay. I guess I don't blatantly self-promote too well yet...

The URL is rickblechta.com (now there's a real stretch!)

One news item I didn't want to let out at the same time is that I've also
registered the name for another website, but I don't know what to do with
the actual design and what the site should contain. Maybe everyone on the
list could help with this.

The name I registered is: martinsmithisabloodywanker.org. One thing I DO
have which might be appropriate for the site is a recording made last year
(sent to me anonymously by someone with the initials JB) of good old Martin
singing "Oh Holy Night" and accompanying himself on his fabled MKI (one of
only three in existence--and if Martin's playing is always of this calibre,
maybe it would be better if there were only two). It is a classic in every
sense of the word. Also, on my website at the bottom of the Music Page is a
photo I cribbed from Ken Leonard's website. It's worth checking out...

(You didn't think I was going to allow that guttersnipe to get away with his
cheap Dick Van Dyke potshots, now, did you?)

Rick (SFX 10030--soon to feature a sliced up version of "Oh Holy Night")

OT: RANT---AOL and HTML mail

2001-12-17 by Ken Leonard

OFF TOPIC RANT ABOUT HTML MAIL!

A lot of AOL folks post here, inviting in all that HUGE AND NASTY HTML from
YahooGroups---as well as coming over with nearly unreadable fonts in some
cases!

There MUST be a way to turn off HTML mail (or that special text mail) that
AOL people inflict on the rest of us unintentionally (honestly, NO AOL user
I've spoken to knows how to turn it off so they can send plain text). If
someone knows how to tell the AOL mail program to send plain text only,
please pass the info along!

grumble, grumble...

Dick VanDyke's English accent in Mary Poppins is just awful.  Even as a kid I thought he was doing it poorly.  Now JB's "New Jersey" accent... he sounds as if he were born in Hoboken :>)

Concurred - and I don't even understand why anybody would choose AOL in the
FIRST place - intrusive software that tracks your web use and sells it to
the highest bidder - and you pay premium price for it!

Dear All (as the egroup insists on sending back to Yahoo),

I've edited my personal profile within the group not to send HTML which helps...

Unfortunately, no. That option asks if you want plain text e-mail
converted to HTML. I'd rather have HTML converted to plain text. :-)

I have sent "feedback" to AOL about this. If you're an AOL user and can
get real support, please ask how you can tell AOL to send "plain text"
e-mail and let me know? Then set your e-mail sender to do plain text while
you're at it? Thanks. :-)
