Just a doodle. I thought it sounded kind of cute, though.

It's 2 x Oboe/Cor Anglais, Russian Choir, Mk II Brass and String
Section, Rebirth sequencer, synth bass, Hammond percussion loops, stolen
sounds, ACID 4.x and Sound Forge for those of you interested in that
kind of irrelevant crap. That's you, Blechta.

Both The six wives of Henry the 8th and Tales from Topographic Oceans were
released in 1973. Selling England by the pound came out in 1974 as was the
Strawbs Hero and Heroine.

For once in my life I am speechless. Doesn't like Genesis, without question one of the most prolific users of the instrument.

Never been a Genesis fan and don't like the song but did enjoy the
mellotron.

Possibly I'm a bit too old, my younger sister liked them, I liked King Crimson and still have a soft spot for Woolly Wolstenhome either BJH or Maestoso. I probably shouldn't say this but I don't care much for the Moody Blues either! But I do like the sound of the Mellotron and hope to own one, one day.

Heh, I just had a bizarre idea (fifth one today, and I haven't even
finished my hot chocolate).

A challenge to the musos out there...

It's one thing to put 'tron in a song where it belongs (and, yep, that
Genesis tune was nicely done!)...But it's another thing to find a song
that doesn't have 'tron now...and probably never should have. Now
what if you took it upon yourself to do such a mash-up...?

Think "God Save the Queen" with 'tron sax. Actually that might work...

...kl...
M400 #805 - what about "Butcher Baby"?
M400 #1037 - "Ever had the feeling you've been cheated...?"

Cool idea! The one that immediately jumped into my mind would be to put Tron 8 choir into the theme song from Howdy Doody.

Ken,
You're right, Pistols are too easy - how about something along the
lines of The Cramps...maybe I Was A Teenaged Werewolf...

I've done a fair few Tron overdubs here and there and one of my
perennial faves was what I did to 'White man In Hammersmith Palais' by
the Clash. (Which is a great song, incidentally - just not very
*Mellotron*, that's all) For the record I used church organ and string
section.

I also did the same thing to 'Peggy Sue' (another great song) using Mk
II brass and I thought it sounded *better*. Then again, I was pissed
as a twat at the time.(*)

Still implies that you're feeding alcohol to the wrong end, Mike.
Over here we like to pour alcohol into them until they're ready to lie down, but not when they're already down. Moist... good. Soggy... ehhh.

Er Guys.....I'm beginning to think I must be the most boring predictable person round here at the moment.
Stupid me for going for the most perfect Genesis song deserving of a Mellotron, and giving it the full treatment. Sometimes, when something's so obvious, it burns away, deep inside you until you just have to go for it. I just couldn't help myself in the end.

Andy,
I forgive you. It needed to be done.

Finally got around to listening to this. Nice work, Andy!

I hadn't heard the song before, so can't comment on how *much* of an
improvement it is, but it's probably significant. I dread ever hearing
it 'tronless.

I like it very much...
Myself I have recorded an album with some songs featuring my lovely
tron. I'm still trying to figure out how to properly record and EQ a
tron, but nobody's perfect ;)

You can access the disc here: http://www.jamendo.com/es/album/6413/

Songs to feature mellotron are 4, 9, 11 and 12. But you can download the
entire album if you like ;)

Hope you like it.

Best.
