Re: [Mellotronists] jobbo the geordie

I was thinking about the recent mention of eddie jobson; I have somewhere an old grey whistle test appearance by the young lad just after he joined roxy music. it looked like he'd inherited some of eno's stuff- there were the two revoxes in their stand and his transparent violin was being processed by a putney. amongst the keyboards were a clavinet, a roland sh1000 (first japanese synth and what me and steve were brought up on.) and an m400. I'd have to dig out the tape to remember what noises were in it, but I remember being puzzled by him playing the oboe solo on it instead of andy mackay on the real thing. there's no discernible 'tron on the first UK album- I think they were just all going bonkers over the cs80, and wetton had certainly had his fill of mellotrons by then, by all accounts, as had bruford. then exit bruford and holdsworth for bruford's own thing; dave stewart (the real one) had himself a prophet 5 by this time. and now eddie does the music for "nash bridges". I don't know if that's a g ood thing or not- I had the sound off. d/m400nr1098 w/ sh1000 on it's lid. (martin- what postage was due? I'll send a cheque.)
