Yes, and I have the Robert Fripp unplugged tapes series from Fripp the sister. He talkes about them here too. was recorded in 98. "Currently the mellotrons are being auctioned unofficially, two double manuals and two single manuals. I have no use for them and wil never use them again. A double manual mellotron used on The Court of the crimson king will sell for 10000 pounds. A double manual mellotron that was not used on the Court of the Crimson King will sell for 6000 pounds." Then he droned about how you don't keep things you don't use. "I am not a collector, yes I would give those guitars to the Hard Rock Cafe but I would rather them go to someone who will use them" - Fripp Unplugged

Hi, all.

Just a reminder that Fripp's Mellotrons subsequently available at auction on the DGM website in early 1999.

MkII #113 (ITCOTCK) had an opening bid of $24,000.00, MkII #121 (Poseidon) $12,000.00, M400's #211 (Islands, Lark's Tongues & Starless), #254 (the carpet tron - also Islands, Lark's Tongues, & Starless), and #1199 (Red), had opening bids of $6000.00, as well as #1627 (with no Crimson provenance) with an opening bid of $5000.00.  All bids were to have been in $500.00 increments.

The Poseidon MkII had a bidder at the minimum proce of $24K, but who later backed out for reason(s) unknown.  My last awareness of these trons is that Fripp still owns them, and that the MkII's are at Streetly (right, Martin?).

As an aside, Fripp was the only one approached who refused to be interviews for the STILL FORTHCOMING Mellotron Book, stating he was "not the right person to do a mellotron interview."
