MICHAEL QUATRO

2002-11-07 by charel196

If any of you haven't heard of this 70s Detroit Wakeman wannabe go
haunt the used lp bins for any of his earlier stuff and you'll hear
some really nice tron work, particularly on the lp IN COLLABORATION
WITH THE GODS,and LOOK DEEPLY INTO THE MIRROR.His first lp PAINTINGS
even has a cover of COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING which Mike "sings"(sorry
Mike...only one step above Doug Ingle from Iron Butterfly)and has Ted
Nugent (!) on guitar. He was at his best when doing the proggy
neoclassical instrumentals.Unfortunately none of this has seen the
light of day on CD(I just made my own from the lps).
Another funny thing is he doesn't mention the mellotron directly in
his lp credits but as "violins, cellos, flutes".Yeah right Mike.It was a
400 in plain view on the back of MIRROR lp.He has a website which I
believe is quatrophonics.com.

There is a Mike Quatro CD called Visions Catalog#:PSV0895292.
I can't find a track listing. The website is quatrophonic.com but
it's under construction...(shit).

I have 2 or 3 of his old records that I got back in the 70's, and remember
being pretty impressed with his playing, etc. at the time.
Would be interesting to go back and listen to them now - have to dig
them out and get them transferred to CD-R.

Wonder where old Michael is now.
Can never remember is Suzy was his sister or not - I think she was.

I've been meaning to transfer 'In Collaboration' and 'Dreamers' for ages -
maybe this will spurt me into doing so (when my bloody deck comes back from
the repairers...). However, if you've got his first two...

He's got a website - can't remember the URL, but it's on Google (what
isn't?!).

I believe so, too.
