For those of us in the UK

Mm...confusing this language of ours which both binds us together and divides
us occasionally.

I have a friend who was vacationing in London, and an acquaintance told her
that he'd come by and "knock her up in the morning", or something to that
effect. She said she was a bit disappointed to find that the phrase had a
totally different meaning in the UK.

Yeah, and giving someone 'a ring' doesn't indicate a marriage proposal, either. :-)
