Hi to all in Mellotron land!
I visited this Tron today at the sellers' domicile. It is currently in
unplayable condition wih many notes not sounding. The remaining tapes
have serious wow and flutter issues. I would expect that this
instrument will need a complete refurbishing from Professor Korb or his
ilk.

Greetings from MONEYPIT ,

Thanks for sharing the info, James.     Speaking of  "ilk,"
actually  more like  "Ugh."   M400 #203 which was featured on eBay
last summer, is no longer the "Ugh-Ly" Tron.   Fully restored
inside/out, it was returned to its smiling owner last weekend at another
MONEYPIT event here at the Mellotron Ranch.  Stay-"tuned."
It has the nicest playability and "feel" of any M400 experienced so far,
surpassed only by the revered "Julia" , MK-I  #124.

The tapes currently residing in the machine are MKII Brass (A),
String Section (B) and 8 Voice Choir (C). The seller has a second tape
set ( I noticed at least one scotch tape repair to a tape) but he was
not willing to install it to audition the sounds. He says he has owned
this Tron for many years but doesn't know what sounds are on the second
frame?? The exterior has numerous nicks and dings etc... but re-
finishable by a professional.

Regards, -partune

If not too serious, some owners have requested leaving minor dings
in place, as proof of its years as an old "war-horse."
Having a Tron look nicer (wet-sanding frames in the shower [hmmm],
or two-part epoxy finish ) doesn't mean it plays nicer.

It is what it is, I suppose.   Hopefully , the future owner of that M400
will consider refurbing the "Laine-o-Tron", instead of leaving it as the
"Lame-o-Tron."

Cheers, -- JK from the M-Ranch

Jerry, you have an Ilk?  Why didn't you let anyone know?

Ilk, huh ?   Perhaps an   "id".  Hopefully not as bad as that from "Forbidden
Planet."   Though I can identify with Robbie the Robot toasting his
health with a bunch of pints .....In my younger days (yeah , right!) .

Cheers,  JK  , (the Mad Professor ID )
