I am happy to announce that although I sold my favorite Mellotron ever, on eBay. I am now the proud new owner of M400s # 386. She's black and looks like hell, but she is fully upgraded and will soon be a peach. Photos will be up on my myspace page by tomorrow.
Off we go.

How about a nice pastel color with a seashell motif? Oops, better not or you might get sued by Ken Leonard!

Peach?

I walked into a used instrument store in Edinburgh and saw That Famous
Shape in a corner of the room. I approached it with some interest, and
found that it had not only been painted a resilient shade of lime green,
but that it was devoid of all mechanism and contained some appaling
plastic keyboard guts which mimicked the sound of an M400 being played
next door. In a bag. By a gorilla. In boxing gloves. And he's stone
fucking deaf.

It was like committing your late grandmother to a funeral parlour and
finding that they had turned her upside down, stuffed wires and bulbs up
her genitals and were using her as a standard lamp.
