Hello everyone, I'm lacking a bit in knowledge on keyboards (Okay, I know hardly anything about them) and was wondering what kind of midi controller is good with the M-Tron program? Would one of the cheap $50 ones suffice? (please please please...) or do I have to shell out some cash for one? Thanks a ton! Here's to owning an actual mellotron someday....

Virtually any midi keyboard will do as long it has at least 49 keys. It doesn't have to be expensive. It only requires 35 active keys, does not respond to touch (good) and does not respond to voice changes either (bad). -- Mike Dickson (tron@...) Any bit of crap will do. The M-Tron doesn't need much. It only requires
35 active keys, does not respond to touch (good) and does not respond to
voice changes either (bad).

The touch sensitivity of a Mellotron is something that can't be simulated with a midi keyboard. Probably the best you can do is use a volume pedal. I use m-tron hosted by FL Studio and find it quite frustrating that I can't find any way of altering the note volume within a track. Touch sensitivity on mellotron samples actually is an
annoying thing for me- I disable it on my Akai or
Kontakt right away-it just doesn't feel like a
mellotron any more. I agree that a volume pedal is a
more natural (and gradual) way of controlling gain. It
is one thing to want a realistic mellotron sound and
another to want a more natural string or brass sound.
