And it has, uhhh, "interesting" provenance.

Just a bit more gives you an M4000 that won't need lots of work...

Hey, I once has a Mellotron that belonged to Soupy Sales' cousin. Does that count? It was used on Soupy's cousin's song, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Freight Train."

664?

The Neighbour Of The Beast!

Sorry, thought I'd get that in first so that YOU don't have to. You'll thank
me someday.

Good News!

I've just ordered a full set of new strings for my 60 D6 Clavinet project.
;-)

Bad News!

I'm the fool restringing the bleedin' thing. I thought retaping a Mellotron
was tedious enough.

Good News!

New piston rings for the VW!

Bad News!

You can't get the SUMP off without separating the engine from the gearbox,
just so that the last 2 allen screws that hold the sump on can be removed.
Don't mention the war? I feel like STARTING one right now...

Hey! - I'm just about finished with the Clav D6 I just bought from a friend - new hammer tips, new strings, new lower pickup. I've just finished the yarning and I'm tuning it bit by bit (when I have time) as it is an iterative process. I'd love to share stories about this as it is certainly a learning experience. However, this is the Mellotron list so I'm hesitant to do it here - time to go look for a Clavinet mail list...

I'd take Clav rebuilding and tron re-taping over a VW engine rebuild anyday. Been there, done that

Actually this is my girlfriends' Mk4 Golf.. I had my Beetle thing years ago.
Still got a mk2, a Bedford CA van and a BSA M21 though.

Am I right in thinking that you have a beautiful DS? Have I seen some pics
somewhere? MySpace?

Ah!!

Yes, I have a startling yellow Citroen DSpecial.

Just sold a stunningly original '65 ID19P, but it was a nightmare to
get the hydraulics right. It was the version that ran on highly
corrosive red synthetic fluid; like having a high pressure can of
Nitromors under the bonnet!!

'Grandma got run over by a Mellotron...'
Find out about the "weak notes", knock one or two
thousand off (for the CMC-10, and "just because"), and
there might be some interest. Muff is a plus, tho...

See what refurbishing a 'tron will do to your
sensibilities?!
