Although I do this with great pain, I am about going to sell what may be the
worlds greatest M-400... # 1562. This Mellotron was originally owned by Don
Robertson. Don is internationally recognized as the creator of "New Age"
music.

I acquired this Mellotron from him 5 years ago. It had been sitting inside i
ts hard shell flight case since 1982. It has been meticulously restored and
maintained by me. The Cabinet is all original and has not been repainted. The
edges and corners are perfect and there are no burns or dents. It does have
some minor wear, however. This Mellotron does have a pedigree. It has been
played live and recorded by some of the biggest names in progressive music.

This is an exceptional machine. It comes with a hard shell flight case and
an original Colortone swell pedal. I will offer it with a choice of tapes. I
will also offer a Muff cover.

This machine is not going to be cheap... but I am reasonable. One important
factor for me is that I have always wanted my machines to be played. What
makes them great is when others get to hear them. There is no more unearthly,
yet more divine sound than a really proper Mellotron coming through a large PA.
Fortunately, I can say that many thousands of people have heard this one.

Included with it will be a complete photo record of its performance  history;
an audio record of its live and recorded performances and a signed lid,
Sorry... no Mike Pinder. However, nearly everone else has, including the entire
Stawbs electric band.* I am able to authenticate its every performance.

Ever single keys player that ever played this machine has told me that it
was the finest Mellotron they had ever played. I'm proud of that. Since the day
I got it until now, I have never forsaken it. It, in turn has sung like an
angel whenever asked.

I am prepared to stack it up against any machine. It has a new Streetly
motor and an SMS 3. it has never gone out of pitch.

Wanna come and play it? Be my guest.

*Don't give a shit? Don't buy it.

Frank

Hi Frank,
I'd love to come and play it but you are too far away, is it making way for an M4000?

What music do you play? As a very poor amateur keyboard / piano player who only has M-tron, one of the drawbacks of seems to be it's limited range and single voice, most of the stuff I play on the piano doesn't transfer happily. So when a tron owner is playing a tron on it's own what do they play?

I am getting an M4000, but that is not why I'm selling it. I am selling it because it needs to move forward. It needs to go to someone who will love it as I have. I was just down playing it. It makes me weep when I do. It has all brass heads that are very "bright." (extremely rare) and tonight I had ,"String Section," in it. I have a great sound system and it just ripped me apart. It always does.
What I most enjoy is going downstairs and turning the lights down low and letting her crank!

I play a lot of Crimson, some Moodies, some Floyd and some Neil Finn stuff and a lot of stuff I just make up as I go. I have a Korg Triton Pro X, a old Yamaha V-50, a MicroKorg and a Moog Voyager a friend lent me (he has 3 of them). I also have a Chamberlin Rhythmate 30 and a cheesy Hammond Auto-Vari 64 rhythm machine. I'm going to sell the Chamby and the Auto-Vari.
I have all this stuff hooked up to a Mackie mixer and a couple of Peavey amps. The room is pretty soundproof, so sometimes I play gently and sometimes I get quite loud. I had a Hammond a-100, but I sold it to Jimmy Moore.
