"Hungry Like the Squonk"?

I think you might be getting the Mr Taylor of Queen confused with one
of the Mr Taylors from Duran Duran. Surely this should be "Bohemian
Squonk" - or "Seven Seas of Fifth" - or "I'm in Love with My Hogweed" -
I'm sure others can suggest much better Queen/Genesis hybrids than I
can.

Talking of D.D., i always found them one of the worst bands of the 80's
until they came up with Ordinary World - more than a slight prog
influence there, I feel. Would benefit from some extra Tron though.

A bit of trivia:
In 1970, before Collins auditioned, Gabriel offered the Genesis
drumming job to Roger Meddows Taylor (Queen). Fortunately for
Collins, Taylor must have said no thank you.

Collins might have ended up making a fortune selling hats by the pound
in Blackpool.

How about "Watcher of the Fat-Bottomed Girls"? "On Film", no less.

Ordinary World is very good but not particularly Yes-like: it is more
like Space Oddity. I always thought that Duran Duran was fairly
Yes-like earlier on but since they were a bunch of pretty boys nobody
in critical circles seemed to ever mention this. The Reflex, for
example, is very much like Siberian Khatru in its tempo,
aggressiveness and an apparent disregard for conventional notions of
chord progressions and harmony.

Yes, I realized that moments after I clicked "SEND," hence my follow-up post
which said "never mind."
