2 New Moody Blues SACDs released

2 New Moody Blues SACDs released

2007-04-13 by Bruce Daily

Hi folks-
I just recieved the 2 SACD Moody Blues releases
(Every Good Boy Deserves Favour & Seventh Sojourn).

EGBDF is very interesting in 5.1 surround. Extra
grunting in "Procession". However, most of the mix
has a quiet yet pervasive bass thumping in it, similar
to someone in the next room stomping their feet out of
time to the music. The pitch of "My Song" seems
different, too. The last extra track listed on the
liner notes was missing on the CD tracks (Don'tcha
love quality control?).

Seventh Sojourn's most interesting track is the 8:10
min original version of "Isn't Life Strange?". There
is an instrumental bridge in this one(supposedly
unheard 'til now) that is a bit of a revelation and
quite beautiful. Mike Pinder's Chamberlin work here
is excellent.

An incomplete review here, but I had to put my 2
cents in. More thoughts?

-Bruce Daily

On the HIGHER & HIGHER webpage news updates it mentions Universal has recalled all
copies of EGBDF for some reason...either the missing track or the other problem you
mention perhaps.

Thanks for the update. Lets see..... keep it as a
rarity, or return it.... hmmm..... wonder if eBay will
be around in 20 years..... might be called
eBay/Nike/Microsoft by then. OK. My retailer will
be getting a call from me soon.
