Olympic Sound Studios/Rolling Stones 1967 - 68

2007-04-01 by lil_guapo11

Are there any documents regarding how/when Olympic Studios came to
have a mellotron?

Or, does the instrument that appears on stones recordings from 67 - 68
belong to the band? If so, is there any documentation regarding the
instrument being sold to a member of the band?

We know for definite that Mick Jagger and Bill Wyman had MKIIs. The first
was featured in the film Performance and we restored Bill's a few years back.
Recently Mick J donated his to the Rock Hall of Fame or some such
organisation and Bill still has his at his 15th century manor house in Suffolk.

I've seen the Mick MK2 in Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall...there's a key stuck down (sigh)
what a waste of a great instrument (oh look honey what's that funny organ?)
