Volume pedal for Mk VI Mellotron

Volume pedal for Mk VI Mellotron

2007-02-15 by mikkouusioukari

I finally tried a volume pedal to my Mk VI Mellotron.

It is a Roland EV-5 Expression pedal with a balanced 3-pole cable.

At low volume(pedal up) the pedal causes distortion on the signal.
The volume does not disappear completely when the pedal is in up
position.

There is not much alternation in the volume level. It is roughly
quiet, distorted in up position, goes first quickly louder but
distorted when pressing the pedal downwards, and changes the loud,
clean when going more down. The rest is clean, loud, no change
(increase) in the volume level.

It appears to me that this pedal is not compatible with the mellotron.

Is here anybody who knows which volume pedals are compatible with Mk
VI mellotron.

Thanks
Mikko

Hi Mikko,

I had the same bad experience with the Roland EV-5 and my M400.
This pedal is a real "shit" !
I bought a Yamaha FC-7. It is a far better quality pedal and it works perfectly with my Mellotron.

Hope this helps.

I agree the Yamaha is the bomb. It has two positions (for sitting or standing) and works quite well.

You should ask those nice folks at mellotron.com who made your instrument . I'm sure they have a ton of suggestions.

Actually, Markus sells a really nice, heavy-duty (yet very pricey) swell pedal. I also have an extra, original, Mellotron swell pedal that I might sell for the right price.

Don't hold that match so close to the gasoline! What might the right
price be?

Shouldn't we ask if it's a swell price?

You'll know it was a "swell" price if I sell it.

I always disliked the original M400 pedal and just ran from the back
line out into a DeArmond mono volume pedal (metal and built like a tank)
