So if the Hammond is in fact a lowry...what is the Mellotron Oboe ?

  Well, the Lowrey anecdote would certainly explain why it's never sounded like a Hammond to me.

    Well...Geoff Unwin, MKII demonstrator extraordinaire from th '60s tells me that all the supposedly Hammond sounds on the MKII are in fact....wait for it....a Lowry.  He was there and we weren't.
