Hey,
I live in Rochester, New York. Got the week off. I'd
gladly hunt down this rogue tron. Damn, I thought
there were only a couple of these things around here;)

Terry,

Try and contact the seller and ask to see the Tron. Fire off a couple of
requests and then notify eBay that the seller will not respond.

By the way, I don't make this offer often, but I will sign your Tron.

I've been practising Wake Rickman's autograph for just this sort of occasion. If you (or anyone) would like me to do one up -- and I promise I won't let anyone in on our little secret -- just give me enough notice so I have time to go out and get another can of butane for my blow torch.

I wondered why Mellotron values seem to be heating up.

This was the response I received from the seller, along with a bunch of
pics. The pics are the ones we've seen before, with the funky control knobs,
"Royal Chiropractic" in the now-covered background, and no pic of the signed lid.

Terry, did you follow up in checking this unit out personally?

/Hi,

I'd like to sell it for $1,750.00 including shipping to buyer. Here are
some pics. If you're still interested and you agree to my price than we
may have a deal before the auction ends. I look forward to hearing from you.
Happy Holidays!
All the best,
Jason Oldfield/

This is the response I got a couple of hours ago from "jason" (including
the pictures, of course). I had asked about the serial number of the
machine, and as I expected, there's no response to that. I'm also a bit
bemused that Frank gets it for $150 less than I do - must be his
author's discount.

Well the bid's at $1600 now, so he's guaranteed that amount. Isn't
this the same Tron that in the very beginning had a Buy It Now price
of $10,000? Frank, do you have the original listing?

P.S. My New Years wish is that everyone on this list who doesn't yet
own their own Tron, will, and at a fair price!

Happy New Year!!

Bernie

Is it common to get snow in Scottsdale? I thought someone had
previously run this picture down to Michigan or Wisconsin.

I do, and it was.

I think it is important that everyone on this list contact ebay and try to
stop this sale. Frank, I think you and John, especially, should do so. I know
Bernie has contacted them, and I have, twice. I wrote the seller and demanded
to see a photo of him holding the lid. No response.

Let's stop him.

You are correct, sir. This was not taken in Scottsdale. I was taken in
Michigan.

Where was you taken to, Frank?

It was a weird night. Sometimes it's hard to even think about it. But now
that I've let it slip, as much as it hurts to recall, I guess I must explain.

It happened when I went to visit a friend in Detroit. We had been out to
dinner and both of us had had far too much to drink. That's when I decided to
call a syntaxi. But it was my error, you see. We had been to a couple of strip
joints and so we needed a proper ride.

As we headed out of town, I noticed a bright light in the sky. We jumped out
just in time to be caught up in some kind of beam (probably operated by
Jim). The next thing I knew. I was standing just inside what appeared to be an
overwhelming place. I was inside the ebay. I knew right there I was in for some
real punishment.

They got me the same way. I was driving along in my Buick. They
beamed me up and then they ate my car.

I sent him this message....
" Is it possible to remove the Mike Pinder autograph and have it replaced with a real musicians name like Kid Rock or Keith Urban ? "
He replied that it was impossible to remove the autograph but...I could buy it for 1750...
