Gracious!

2002-07-08 by mellotronz

Hiya all. I've just recently acquired a copy of "This
is...Gracious!!". Some pretty awesome mellotron usage here. To my
point, I keep reading about Martin Kitcat's Mk II, and how it was
customized, but no mention of what the alterations were. I have also
read that it was sold in the mid 1990's. Does anyone know more about
all this?
Cheers.

To my knowledge, this unit is a grey SFX machine with dual lead tapes, and
only "modification" was that it had dual volume pedals, one for each
keyboard. It is now owned by Damon Fox (in L.A.) of Bigelf. A pic is in The
Mellotron Book.

Martin, perhaps you can add more?

Bought by DK in 1993, sold to Damon. I have seen MA's
pictures of this tron and it has a name plate (in the
fashion of MKII SFX consoles) that says: "Music
Console" in script. Dave called it the "Noah's Ark
MkII" because it has two of everything...splits,
preamps, pedals etc. Nice looking machine really. I
know that he repainted it...the original photos showed
it in very nasty looking condition. Bought from Kitkat
himself...he's now a music producer in LA.

MK.

Dear All,

Sad to say that Martin Kitcat died just before Xmas last. We've just been
dealing with Tim Wheatley, the ex Gracious bass guitarist who told us the
news.

Regarding the MKII, it was a standard MKII SFX and Frank's right, it had
doubled up lead tapes. Last I heard was that Damon was having a few problems
with it but I'm not sure exactly what although noisy pre amps wouldn't be a
suprise.

Building a "Mellotronists Hall of Fame," huh? Neat!

My pictures are freely available on my web site. I could do a personalized
sitting for a reasonable fee.
