Question about Pinder Mellotron

Question about Pinder Mellotron

2006-12-05 by hofner007

I have been wanting a mellotron but they are too expensive for me so I decided to buy the
Pindertron Cds and I will need a keyboard to work them. My question is what keyboard new
or old can I get that will make these things sing ? thanks

Well, presumeably you'll be loading the sounds from the Pindertron CD
into some kind of sampler (either a hardware one, or a "soft-sampler"
program on a computer. The sampler will almost certain have a MIDI
connection, in which case you can connect any MIDI keyboard to play it.

Emu E4....rack or keyboard version (E4K...what I use) and 128 meg
expansion or I've heard Alesis Fusion does a good job too

Any MIDI controller will do as long as you have the Pinder set fed into a sampler, be it hard or soft (e.g. Kontakt, VSampler). Of course, if you want to play the intro to "Epitaph", you'll want a controller with a pitch wheel. :)

A pedant posts...

The intro doesn't have any mellotron pitch bends. ;)

Oh carp! ITCOTCK was what I meant.

Sorry about that. Embarrassing. Blame it on the lager.

There are no pitch bends for that songs intro either. :P

you're probably thinking of the middle break in Epitaph, before the bass clarinet solo

Thank you, that is the part I was thinking of.

This is obviously a good incentive for me to start listening to KC again.

Puh
