RE: [Mellotronists] Was Bill Fransen a vintage radio enthusiast?

2006-02-14 by John Beresford

Hi Steve,
I'm sure the tronbros will know exactly but I think Bill continued with
Streetly. I'm not sure but I think he may have passed away to the
mellotronland in the sky prematurely but I don't know exactly when. There
are pics of him at Bradmatic/Streetly on the mellotron.com website.
Regarding the 3 violins they were not on the original MkI Mellotron but
appeared on the MkII after the deal was done so I think a copy of the
original chamberlin recordings was included in the deal between Harry and
the Bradleys.

John

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know what happened to Bill Fransen after the Bradleys
settled with Harry Chamberlin and the two companies continued on their
separate paths?
Also, how did the "3 violins" get from the Chamberlin to the
Mellotron? Did the Bradleys just take one of the two Chamberlins that
Bill had brought over and copy all the notes into the Mothertron? I'm
sure they wouldn't have picked up the phone and said, "Hi Harry, we've
pinched your idea, now can we have one of the sounds to go with it?" !

Regards, Steve
(In a cold February England but not suffering as much as some of you
guys in the former colony. No Snovatrons here ... yet.)
