Didn't someone here mention a Mellotronist in the band Beggar's Opera who is female? It seems I recall she even came in here in the early days of this message board (?) The only album I have is Get Your Dog Off Me, and I guess she left by then. I used to have Waters of Change, but never noticed the line-up. There is a bit more female saturation on the psychedelic and prog music boards it seems...may be as high as one in seven or one in eight. A lot of pondering on why the shortage of females in progressive rock circles (and lots of areas within the music industry in general, ranging from disc jockeys to managers) was picked apart recently on progressiveears.com. I have no idea why this is. I gave up speculating eons ago. People ask me what kind of music I am into, expecting me to softly reply folk, secular or new age...and when I reply Isis, Neurosis, Swans, Half Japanese, Nurse W/Wound and Throbbing Gristle they run for cover. Lightweights!!! And I will not be pidgeonholed as such!!! Bottom line: I don't care what the genre of music is, I feel confident that I *do* know bad from good music. I want depth, perception, articulation, cleverness, uniqueness, intelligence, spirit, emotion and talent to flourish on a recording. I'd like it to stand the test of time, and hold up to repeated listenings.
