Mellotronists

Thanks for the opines, folks.  I only caught a little of the tune in 
the car with thunderstorm static over it, and now I've been able to 
hear a couple of clips of the group myself, it's pretty clear they 
are real strings.  I get the sense a couple of times that with the 
block chord parts of the arrangements that they were almost trying to 
replicate the Mellotron sound with real strings!  By the way, 
on "Morning Girl" which was the song I heard first, what is the take 
on the very 60's percussive electronic keyboard part, RMI piano 
perhaps?
