Yes, as a science-fiction aficionado since about 1960 (when I discovered Robert Anson Heinlein's "Space Cadet") and the proud owner of a collection of about 30,000 sci-fi volumes (including a signed "Foundation" first edition!) and about 800 science-fiction films, I actually am aware that the "American" version of Godzilla was not the true first film featuring the legendary whale-gorilla, but having grown up a sci-fi nerd, I have learned to water my personal vantage point down for non-aficionados to save time. I won't make that mistake with you guys any more! I also wasn't trying to imply that the music was performed with a Mellotron (or Chamberlin) but was just quite taken with the Mellotronish familiarity of the sound of the music. Truth is, science-fiction is what got me interested in playing music other than the "classical" repertoire I was immersed in as a youth. When I first heard the Moody Blues, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, Genesis, the Strawbs, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Pink Floyd, Yes - all of the seminal proggers, it was the sci-fi feel of the music and the sci-fi sound of Mellotrons and synths that utterly captured me. I still can't listen to many of those songs without being strongly reminded of some of my favorite authors and books and having some wonderful synesthetic images flow through my mind. Or, it could just be flashbacks...
