Re: [Mellotronists] MkII sounds - Addendum

2004-03-23 by MAinPsych@aol.com

...Of course, oboe is now available on MkI/MkII bespoke tapes. My newly restored MkII #134 ("Sharayah" aka the Pinderton) has the Cor Anglais/Oboe split and it sounds fantastic, with no discernable break between the two. Norm, I see why you love this sound.

Speaking of MkII #134, which was unveiled at last weekend's MONEYPIT 2004 ("15 Linear Feet of Tron"), it sounds and looks fantastic. "The Mellotron Professor", Jerry Korb, did a superb job in restoring the unit both internally and externally, and it is like going back in a time machine to 1964 and getting a brand new unit. And yes, the cycling has been working without fail since last October. And special thanks to the lads at Streetly for parts and tapes and their support and encouragement. See what can happen with a COLLABORATIVE effort!!!
