RE: [Mellotronists] Snopek/Brion

2003-02-15 by Gagliani, William

Wow, I'm shocked that *I* am not alone!

Sigmund Snopek is a local treasure, a composer whose output includes "classical" music, pipe organ music, string music, punk, rock, polka, and everything in-between. Ha graduated from the same school I did, UW-Milwaukee.

Don, 78-80 were great years to see him -- shortly after that came the break-up of his band SNOPEK, and he began to find his style as a solo performer. Even into the 80s, I saw him at least that many times at his regular gigs and at every outdoor festival in Milwaukee (of which there are many).

Cool there are three of us. If I see him (which happens every once in a while), I'll see if he still has his Tron, and if he'd be interested in this list.

I, y'r humble list manager, am a major Sigmund Snopek fan.

I was first introduced to the Snopek band in '78 when I went to school in
Madison, Wisconsin and saw about 24 Snopek shows between '78 and '80.
Awesome, wonderful stuff.

I highly recommend the recent double CD "Trinity Seas", which is a
remarkable work consisting of his original 1973 "Trinity Seas" album
and a lot of material from 1999.
